Location: Remote/hybrid with travel to BEAMA office in Tower Hill, London and other UK locations for in-person meetings (minimum 3 days per month).

Remuneration:  Equivalent of annual salary of £50-60k pro rata dependent on experience.

Main purpose of job

BEAMA is the UK Trade Association for energy infrastructure and systems, representing manufacturers of electrical products essential to the UK energy sector. Representing over 200 member companies (UK manufacturers) BEAMA has significant influence over UK and international political, standardisation and commercial issues impacting our members. We are the representative voice of the supply chain and central to our program of work is maintaining and growing markets for our members, primarily focused on helping drive inward investment into the UK supply chain as we work towards ambitious Net Zero targets.

BEAMA represents manufacturers in the electricity networks infrastructure sector. This sector, including manufacturers, network operators and government are collaborating to develop an industry-led growth plan. This plan will develop a better evidence base on the economic value of the sector and identify actions that can support the growth of the supply chain and workforce required to deliver Clean Power by 2030 and Net Zero by 2050. This is a substantial programme of work which will deliver on many commitments set out in the UK’s Modern Industrial Strategy.

This role will act as a full-time lead for BEAMA on the Growth Plan. The project and engagement manager will be responsible for leading the work on the supply chain workstream, coordinating member companies and others on the steering group to agree priorities and deliver actions to support the growth of the UK networks supply chain. This will include developing agendas and drafting materials for meetings to support agreement, as well as supporting the development of documents for publication.

They will also coordinate BEAMA member input into other workstreams and the plan more broadly, ensuring BEAMA members are informed and engaged in the delivery of the work programme.

The role will also have a secretariat function, coordinating working group and other related meetings to ensure the effective project management of the growth plan from a BEAMA perspective. The project and engagement manager will work closely with colleagues in the Energy Networks Association and Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to ensure the effective running of the sector growth plan steering group and associated working groups, supporting the scheduling, organisation, and minuting of meetings, as well as coordinating documentation and acting as a point of contact for members and stakeholders.

Key tasks

  • Coordinate BEAMA member input into the delivery of the sector growth plan, ensuring a wide range of input and forming consensus positions across members.
  • Develop methods to keep BEAMA members engaged in the development of the plan, through organising and leading meetings, as well as providing timely written updates.
  • Develop materials for meetings to support discussion and contribute to documents for external publication.
  • Work with the ENA and DESNZ to deliver the secretariat role for the growth plan, leading the secretariat role for the supply chain working group and supporting the delivery of the steering group and wider working groups. This will include coordinating meetings, taking minutes and tracking actions.
  • Support the BEAMA marketing team in developing comms and media content to publicise the delivery of the plan.
  • Provide other support to the Head of Electricity Networks Infrastructure and CEO of BEAMA in the delivery of the sector growth plan project as required.

Budget and people management responsibilities

  • No direct budget responsibility or line management responsibilities. Will support line manager with tracking financial contributions from BEAMA members as needed.

Knowledge and skills required

Knowledge and Experience

  • Previous experience providing administrative or secretariat support to committees, boards, or project teams.
  • Familiarity with organising meetings, preparing agendas, and taking accurate minutes.
  • Experience of working with senior stakeholders in a professional environment desirable. Interest in the energy sector or public policy desirable.

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Clear and concise written communication, with ability to produce accurate agendas, minutes and action logs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to present materials and lead agenda items in meetings.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines. Proactive and flexible, with the ability to anticipate needs and solve problems quickly.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfortable with online meeting platforms (e.g. Microsoft Teams).

Qualifications or Equivalent Experience

  • Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent; degree desirable but not essential.
  • Project management qualification desirable.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in an administrative or secretariat role.
