BEAMA welcomes new CEO Yselkla Farmer

11 Sep 2023

BEAMA, the UK trade association for manufacturers and providers of energy infrastructure technologies and systems, today announces Yselkla Farmer as its new CEO.

With over a decade of extensive experience across the electrotechnical sector and widely regarded expertise in smart energy systems, Yselkla’s appointment represents not only continuity for Beama but a solid foundation for tackling the Net Zero agenda in the coming years. From her previous Director of Public Affairs role, she also brings a strong background in collaborative working with Government and allied organisations across the electrical system supply chain.

BEAMA CEO, Yselkla Farmer comments:

“It is a great privilege to be taking on the role of CEO at BEAMA. Dr Howard Porter leaves behind a strong legacy, and I will be working with a brilliant team and work program. We have in recent years and months faced some huge challenges, including COVID, supply chain shortages and adjustment to post Brexit regulations. This has propelled the need for greater collaboration and harnessing the community of BEAMA members has and will increasingly be instrumental to delivering the needs of the industry. This is most evident in the urgent action we must take to support the supply chain in delivering their Net Zero targets and supporting Government on the delivery of the UK’s Net Zero agenda. Harnessing this community lead approach I will make it my mission to ensure our members are well supported, providing a collaborative environment to influence and navigate change”.

The supporting senior management team for BEAMA has also experienced a number of changes, again focusing on continuity and significant depth in sector experience. Andrew Willman retains his role as Chief Operating Officer, with responsibility for BEAMA’s central operations; with Raj Vagdia also retaining the crucial Technical Director function across the business. Previous Deputy CEO, Kelly Butler, returns to the senior team as Strategy Director after a 5 year period in industry and Nick Hayler takes on the role of Director of Member Services overseeing all sector management delivery.

Beama President, Non-exec Chairman Titon, Keith Ritchie comments:

“I am very pleased that Yselkla has accepted the role of CEO of Beama following the retirement of Dr Howard Porter from the post. Yselkla brings great experience of Beama and its members from her years in the organisation and her detailed knowledge of the key policy areas that impact our members is also a key attribute. Beama has a strong team working with Yselkla and I look forward to working with all of them in the future as we continue to raise the profile of the electro-technical manufacturing industry, particularly given the Net Zero challenge”.
