Production environment now available

18 December 2018

Please be informed that DG Energy has published the first PRODUCTION environment of the EPREL database on December 14. This environment is the one suppliers will need to use to register their product models from 1 January 2019. Contrary to previous models, this is now a secured environment. You may find it here: https://energy-label.ec.europa.eu

The European Commission officially acknowledged in a communication to stakeholders that while it will be possible to upload the necessary data on 1 January 2019, many suppliers will not have had sufficient time to prepare their systems, nor will the database be ready for system-to-system interaction. The Commission therefore informs that data will not be accessible to Market Surveillance Authorities and the public until April 2019. Please find here the official communication sent by the Commission.

The ADCO ENERLAB, composed of national authorities, replied to a joint industry letter recognising the delays in the implementation of the EPREL database, acknowledging the challenge for the industry and informing us that Market Surveillance Authorities participating in the ADCO agree to take a collaborative approach after 1 April 2019 until the first full week of May. This means that they will focus efforts not on penalising non-compliance but rather on supporting economic operators by answering questions and helping find solutions. Such collaborative approach will be reviewed after the first full week of May. Please find here  the full text sent by the ADCO Chairperson.

The Commission anticipates that industry will continue uploading data during the period between January and April 2019 and they intend to use this period to finalise the system-to-system upload facility and iron out any remaining bugs.
