A key focus for work in BEAMA to support our members on Net Zero commitments is on embedded carbon in products and the measurement and future regulation that we expect will eventually surround this.  A growing pressure from our members customers to reduce their scope 3 emissions is putting more emphasis on the need to measure embodied carbon in products.

Here we report on a coalition of industry bodies (not including BEAMA - this will be determined by support or comments from our membership) who have developed a proposed amendment to the building regulations - Part Z – that would ensure embodied carbon is assessed and limited.

They highlight that emissions from the construction, maintenance and demolition of building amount to 3 times that from the aviation industry.

Here we ask for member feedback on the proposal - please send comments to [email protected]
