04 Feb 2022

Today the Government has published official guidance for compliance with The Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021 (legislation.gov.uk). Find out more here to ensure you are compliant. BEAMA and our community of members are working closely with the OPSS and its designated partners to ensure the enforcement of the Regulations is appropriate and proportionate.

The guidance document ‘Complying with the Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021’ and templates for the Register of Sales, Technical File, and Statement of Compliance have now been published on the Electric Vehicle Smart Charge Points page on GOV.UK.

OPSS are the designated enforcement authority for these Regulations and we have commissioned TÜV SÜD to undertake research to inform the approach for assessing compliance of Electric Vehicle Smart Charge Points. Please contact TÜV SÜD (copied) if you are interested in discussing this research.

If you have any queries regarding the enforcement of the Regulations, these are best directed towards OPSS at this email address ([email protected]). Any other EV smart charging queries for the UK Government should be directed towards the EV Smart Energy Policy Team at [email protected].
