BEAMA's Role in Cable Management
Cable management systems play a vital role in the safe installation, protection and long term performance of electrical infrastructure across domestic, commercial and industrial buildings.
As buildings become increasingly electrified, the volume and complexity of cabling infrastructure continues to grow. The deployment of low carbon technologies, smart building systems, renewable energy installations and electric vehicle charging infrastructure is placing greater demands on electrical installations, making robust cable management more important than ever.
At BEAMA, we work closely with manufacturers, standards bodies, regulators and industry stakeholders to support best practice and improve safety. By combining technical expertise, regulatory insight and a strong focus on standards, we help ensure the industry has access to trusted guidance and practical resources.

Premature Collapse of Wiring Systems
Experts from across the Cable Management Group, supported by the London Fire Brigade and Construction Fixings Association, developed a guide and test specification for preventing the premature collapse of wiring systems due to excessive heat.
The aim of these free publications is to provide practical examples for manufacturers, system designers, specifiers and installers, through diagrams on a range of cable management products including discrete clips to trays and ladders.
This guidance has been developed as a result of the addition of Note 5 on Amendment 4 BS7671, which clarifies that this regulation is not for the maintenance of circuit intergrity, but rather the safety a prevention of premature collapse.
