BEAMA welcomes the initiative by energy retailers to support vulnerable and pre-payment customers at this time of uncertainty

No-one should be forced to leave their homes while unwell to buy additional credit, endangering their own health or that of others. We are pleased to see promising signs of Government and Industry working together to ensure that consumers are not left without heat and light or put at unnecessary risk during this pandemic.

The ability of customers with smart meters to top up remotely, online or with an app, is another demonstration of the value of the smart metering rollout. BEAMA and its membership remain ready to support as appropriate to help consumers stay in control of their energy use.
