BEAMA’s CEO Dr Howard Porter is appointed to the new BEIS Net Zero Buildings Council

26 Nov 2021

Dr Howard porter was asked in the Summer of 2021 by RT Hon Kwasi Kwarteng MP and RT Hon Robert Jenrick MP to join the new Net Zero Buildings Council. The Net Zero in Buildings Council aims to support the successful delivery of the Heat and Buildings Strategy and identify how industry can work effectively alongside government by contributing expert advice, real-world insight, constructive challenge, and outward leadership to the Government’s aim of decarbonising almost all buildings by 2050. The council is a join initiative between BEIS and DLULG.

A dynamic partnership between Government, industry and third sector, the Council will drive forward critical Net Zero ambitions, such as decarbonising buildings, creating a highly skilled UK market with green jobs, and levelling up. The challenge of decarbonising buildings and the implementation of the Government’s Heat and Building’s Strategy are significant priorities for the departments’ shared agenda.

The first meeting of the Council will meet on the 6th December chaired by BEIS minister Lord Callanan and then will meet once every two months or more frequently should there be a specific topical need.
