Following the referendum result BEAMA lead the formation of the European Union Relationship and Industrial Strategy Task force (EURIS). This is now a task force of 13 trade associations representing manufacturing across the electrotechnical, plastics, renewables, an industrial automation sectors. Our aim in setting up EURIS was to ensure our industry was represented in Brexit discussions alongside other significant sectors, including the automotive and pharmaceuticals industry. A large proportion of our markets cover intermediary products in the European supply chain and therefore these are often hard to trace and equate when considering implications to trade following Brexit. EURIS has been incredibly effective in ensuring our members have a strong voice and we are grateful of UK Government in establishing formal working relationships with EURIS and its members as the negotiations continue on our exit from the European Union
In addition to EURIS, BEAMA are working with individual Government departments to consult and engage on the possible implications for regulatory compliance specific to our industry, post Brexit. This includes implications for chemical regulation, energy using products regulation including Eco Design and energy labelling, data and cybersecurity.
