Why underfloor heating is increasingly in demand

04 Nov 2024

A growing number of homeowners are prioritising energy efficiency in their homes, with 70% of 45 – 54 year olds aspiring to live in more energy efficient properties, with underfloor heating increasingly seen as desirable.

Underfloor heating (UFH) offers clear opportunities for the building industry, providing a strong customer-facing benefit and a valuable point of differentiation. For installers, designers and specifiers, it can also represent an additional revenue stream while significantly improving end-user satisfaction.

Despite its benefits, misconceptions around UFH still exist among some professionals, including plumbers and architects. Outdated assumptions can lead to hesitation, even when UFH is the preferred choice of the client. In some cases, this results in missed opportunities or reduced customer confidence in the final outcome.

In reality, UFH is suitable for a very wide range of projects and, when correctly specified, can provide reliable, long-term performance and comfort for decades.
