Underfloor heating (UFH) is a highly adaptable solution, but there are still common questions around where and how it can be used.

 

Where can UFH be installed? 

UFH is suitable for a wide range of projects, including new builds, renovations, extensions and conversions. A variety of systems are available to suit different construction types and installation stages. 

What is acoustic UFH? 

Some UFH solutions are designed with acoustic performance in mind and can help achieve Part E compliance. These systems combine heating with acoustic floor build ups to reduce both airborne and impact sound. Depending on the system, installation can take place at either first or second fix stage. 

What floor coverings can be used? 

UFH works with most floor finishes including carpet, wood and tiles. While some coverings provide better heat transfer than others, a properly designed system will still achieve the desired room temperature regardless of finish. 

How is UFH controlled? 

UFH can be controlled using simple dial thermostats or more advanced smart controls via smartphone, tablet or home automation systems. Response times vary depending on system type: retrofit and floating floor systems tend to heat up quickly, while screeded systems are slower to respond but highly efficient when paired with setback temperatures.
