Underfloor heating (UFH) is an “invisible” heating system that delivers warmth from the floor up, creating a comfortable and even indoor temperature throughout the room.

 

How does UFH work? 

Warm water UFH works by circulating controlled warm water from a heat source (such as a boiler or heat pump) through a network of pipes installed within the floor. In renovation projects, slim profile systems can be installed directly over existing floors without major disruption. 

Because the heat is distributed across a large surface area, UFH delivers gentle, consistent warmth that heats the room efficiently and evenly. 

Is UFH suitable for my property? 

Yes. UFH can be used in almost all property types. New builds are particularly well suited due to high insulation levels, while older homes can also benefit thanks to modern retrofit systems designed to deliver higher heat outputs.

Do I need to change my boiler? 

No. UFH works with most existing heating systems, including gas, oil and LPG boilers, as well as renewable technologies such as air source and ground source heat pumps. 

Can I install UFH in just one room or upstairs? 

Yes. UFH can be installed in a single room, with radiators used elsewhere in the home if required. There are also systems specifically designed for upstairs installation and multi-storey properties.
