🌐 September Newsletter from DSIN

Welcome, BEAMA membership, to this edition of the Digital Strategy & Innovation Network (DSIN) newsletter. Whether you’re just beginning to explore digitisation or you’re already configuring APIs and schema, DSIN is your hub for collaboration, knowledge sharing and practical support.

This month’s DSIN newsletter brings you:

  • PAS 1958: Your Input Needed!
  • Fall Into Responsible AI - Autumn Programme
  • Compliance Made Simple: CRA, RED & PSTI
  • DPP update
  • Digital Innovation Awards - Your Work Deserves Recognition

PAS 1958:2026 - Guide now open for public comment (closing 10 October)

We’re pleased to announce that PAS 1958:2026 - Built environment - Data and information standards landscape - Guide is now available for public comment. BEAMA has helped to develop this PAS and we encourage members and colleagues to review and submit feedback.

“If information requirements define the questions, it’s manufacturers’ data that provides a significant proportion of the answers.

Manufacturers are not a use case - they are fundamental in the design of the information management system – feeding in data, therefore have to plug-in to the same information foundations as the rest of the built environment.” Emma Hooper, Lead Author PAS1958:2026

This PAS was developed as part of the Bridge AI programme and aims to:

  • Rationalise key data and information concepts used across the built environment
  • Provide a conceptual framework and repeatable patterns to support organisations moving to a data-driven approach, and
  • Help improve the reliability and usefulness of AI-generated outputs by creating a stronger foundation of quality

Deadline for comments: Friday 10 October. Please share the draft with anyone who may have useful input.

Bridging the gap in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Fall into Responsible AI BEAMA’s Autumn AI Programme

BEAMA is proud to support BridgeAI (an Innovate UK programme delivered with partners including BSI and The Alan Turing Institute) to help UK organisations adopt AI responsibly.

Through this partnership, members can access short, practical workshops, guidance on standards and bias mitigation and the BridgeAI community for tools, templates and peer learning.

This Autumn we’re inviting members to Gather, Grow, Govern - share experience, build practical AI capability and strengthen governance so you can Fall into Responsible AI with confidence.

Look out for details of our BridgeAI introduction member webinar in October - and booking information coming soon.

Navigating Compliance: CRA, RED & PSTI - Your Practical Guide (Sept 2025)

Connected electrotechnical products must be resilient, and compliant. BEAMA’s concise new guide gives practical, step-by-step direction on conformity marking, the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), harmonised standards, and Product Security & Transparency Information (PSTI) obligations. It’s written for manufacturers, designers and exporters who need clear next steps to reduce risk and demonstrate trust to customers and regulators.

Many thanks to the BEAMA DSIN Cybersecurity Guidance Panel and members who contributed.

DPP technical update — current BEAMA / national activity

IST/47/-/3 (the national committee) We have resolved the national framework comments and formally submitted them to CEN/CENELEC JTC 24 as part of the national comment resolution.

Turning Brilliant Digital Work Into Award-Winning Recognition

BEAMA members are doing brilliant digital work across product data, information management and smart systems - work that deserves recognition. - it’s time we shouted about it.

We would like to encourage members to consider entering these awards to boost visibility in our sector of the great work manufacturers are doing in the digital field.

• CIBSE Society of Digital Engineering (SDE) Awards - for achievements in digital engineering.
• Digital Construction Awards - for digital innovation across the built environment.

You’re already winners - why not make it official?

The Society of Digital Engineering (SDE) Awards celebrate people, organisations and processes driving digital transformation (entries are open now; deadline 5 October). Society of Digital Engineering Awards

The Digital Construction Awards recognise excellence in BIM, information management and applied digital technology across the built environment (entries open; deadline 31 October). Digital Construction Awards - Digital Construction Awards

Both awards give your work a public platform and help demonstrate the practical impact of your amazing innovations.

Please let me know if you decide to enter.
