BEAMA Industry Awards celebrate leadership, collaboration and sustainability across the sector
Earlier this month BEAMA hosted our Annual Conference, in which our awards were passed out to members recognising their continued contributions. The BEAMA Industry Awards recognised the outstanding individuals and organisations shaping the future of the UK’s electrotechnical and energy infrastructure sectors.
Celebrating innovation, leadership and excellence, the awards highlight those driving progress in product development, standardisation, collaboration and sustainability – all vital to delivering a smarter, more resilient and Net Zero-ready energy system.
Richard St Clair Award: Paul Sayer, Hager
The Richard St Clair Award for collaboration and constructive working with industry partners was presented to Paul Sayer of Hager.
With more than 20 years of active involvement in BEAMA, Paul has played a leading role across multiple technical groups, including Building Electrical Systems, LV distribution and infrastructure, and LV Switchboards and Busbar Systems. Most recently, he has helped steer BEAMA’s response to challenges around AFDD technology, leading evidence-based testing and supporting robust, safety-focused outcomes within the Wiring Regulations.
As a Chair, Paul is recognised for his ability to build consensus, represent the collective industry view, and carry BEAMA’s voice confidently into national and international standards forums. He is widely respected across the sector, including by organisations such as BSI, IET, NICEIC, CEN and IEC.
Outstanding service and achievement in standardisation: Michael Snowdon and Norman Bird
Two awards were presented in recognition of many years of outstanding service and achievement in standardisation.
The first recipient, Michael Snowdon of Secure Meters, was recognised for his consistent and highly valued contribution to national standards work, particularly within the SMETS smart metering programme. Known for his calm leadership, technical rigour and willingness to share expertise, Michael is widely respected by colleagues and peers across the industry.
The second recipient, Norman Bird of Schneider Electric, was honoured for his long-standing leadership across multiple panels and committees, including his role as Chair of ATC and JPEL subcommittees. Norman has ensured BEAMA’s views are clearly represented in the development of product standards, earning trust and respect from both members and external stakeholders.
BEAMA 2050 Connected Award: Marshall-Tufflex
The BEAMA 2050 Connected Award, recognising leadership in Net Zero and the circular economy, was awarded to Marshall-Tufflex.
A long-standing advocate of sustainable manufacturing, Marshall-Tufflex has incorporated recycled materials into its products for more than 30 years. Today, the company continues to lead best practice through high recycled content, transparent product labelling and the provision of embodied carbon data aligned with industry frameworks.
The business has also delivered significant, independently verified reductions in carbon emissions through targeted initiatives across operations, fleet and packaging. Beyond its own activities, Marshall-Tufflex plays an active role in driving wider change through BEAMA engagement, supply chain collaboration and innovative circular economy partnerships that support education and skills development.
Together, this year’s award winners exemplify the expertise, leadership and commitment needed to support the UK’s transition to a sustainable, resilient energy future.
