A Cable Management Guide to the Prevention of Premature Collapse

BEAMA members are committed to the electrical safety of cable management systems

Following the Grenfell Tower tragedy and the subsequent Hackitt Report, the UK Government issued a publication entitled ‘Building A Safer Future – An Implementation Plan' in December 2018, whilst also approaching the electrical industry for its support to implement the recommendations contained within the report.

BEAMA's Cable Management Group have put in a united effort to not just create guidance for preventing the premature collapse of wiring systems, but have contributed to BEAMA's first ever test specification. These FREE publications are a result of incredible collaboration of experts across the sector, supported by the London Fire Brigade and the Construction Fixings Association, for the electrical safety of firefighters and education of designers, specifiers, and consultants involved in cable management system planning for buildings.

Following the addition of Note 5 to Amendment 4 BS7671, BEAMA members came together to create guidance to clarify wiring regulations by the UK Government. Designers, specifiers, and contracters can all learn from this guidance to make improving electrical safety less complicated.

Resulting from the collaboration of experts across several manufacturing organisations within the Cable Management Group, and guidance from the London Fire Brigade and Construction Fixings Association, BEAMA's first ever test specfication provides detailed information to help manufacturers, specifiers and installers select and erect Wiring Systems to prevent premature collapse caused by excessive heat.
