State of the Nation: Driving UK Energy Smart Appliance Manufacturing for Clean Power
25 November 2025
How ready is UK industry to deliver the smart technologies needed for Clean Power 2030?
This State of the Nation report provides a clear, evidence-based view of how prepared UK manufacturers are to scale energy smart appliances and connected systems. It follows our Smart Energy Explainer from June called 'Giving Consumers Access to Clean Power'.
Drawing on insights from BEAMA’s smart metering, smart buildings and EV communities, it highlights where progress is being made and where barriers remain.
Manufacturers are aligned on ambition, but policy uncertainty, fragmented regulation and inconsistent market signals are slowing investment and innovation. Without clearer direction, the pace of delivery risks falling short of the UK’s electrification goals.
The report sets out the practical actions needed to unlock progress: From aligning key policies and standards to strengthening coordination across major programmes like the Flexibility Roadmap, Warm Homes Plan and Heat Strategy.
