CEDIG represents manufacturers and service providers throughout the supply chain of consumer energy data. It is a response to the urgent need for industry to understand and influence the digital transformation and the emerging importance of energy data. The plenary will consist of three 2½-hour remote sessions over three days. Please drop in and out to attend the sessions of most interest and forward this invitation to others in your organizations as appropriate.

Each session will include guest speakers from within and outside the BEAMA membership, followed by Q&A and general discussion. A detailed agenda, with timings and indications of guest speakers, will follow  shortly. Offers to give short presentations of your organization’s work in the areas listed below are encouraged.

Monday 6 December, 10.00-12.30: Metering and flexibility 

  • Delivering Market-wide HHS
  • Smart metering: lessons learned, its future role, and what comes next?
  • The case for multi-vector metering (electricity, gas, water, heat)
  • Metering & protecting vulnerable consumers, and the “just transition” to Net Zero
  • Industrial & commercial metering
  • Compliance, testing and labelling

Outputs from this session:

  • An understanding of the technical remits of BEAMA Smart Metering Group and CEDIG
  • An activity plan for upcoming projects, campaigns, challenges

Tuesday 7 December, 13.00-15.30: Resilience and privacy 

  • IT and OT cyber security
  • Government expectations for cyber security and data privacy
  • Compliance, testing and labelling

Outputs from this session:

  • A better understanding of requirements and expectations for system cyber security
  • An activity plan for upcoming projects, campaigns, challenges; including on device-level security, the Network Code, and the Revised Directive on Security of Network and Information Systems (NIS2)

Wednesday 8 December, 10.00-12.30: Data and digitalization 

  • Market-wide HHS: how is HH data going to change the dynamics of the market?
  • How do we measure, value and reward flexibility?
  • How do we help BEAMA members navigate the transition to a more dynamic, digital energy system?
  • What data do flexibility providers need, and how do we deliver it?
  • How do we engage and protect consumers as our energy and data systems change?

  • A better understanding of the concerns of members and other stakeholders
  • An activity plan for upcoming projects, campaigns, challenges
