Wilson Power Solutions is a manufacturer of power and distribution transformers. Family business based in Yorkshire, started in 1946, has grown its team and developed its product offering to provide customers with innovative and energy-efficient technologies. We supply grid transformers up to 400kV and 300MVA and MV transformers up to 9MVA and 33kV.
We manufacture and supply energy-efficient and cost-effective transformer solutions to several market sectors like battery energy storage systems (BESS), renewables, EV charging, higher education, data centres, healthcare, retail, manufacturing and others. In 2007, we opened a manufacturing plant in Chennai, India, to be an independent transformer manufacturer delivering expert-engineered distribution transformers for a wide range of sectors.
We supply UK DNO & iDNO-approved ground-mounted unit-type distribution transformers. Being Toshiba’s exclusive UK partner, we can service UK network-competitive connection projects with transformers manufactured according to UKPN, SSE, ENW, NIE and SPEN specifications.
Our flagship amorphous transformers, first launched in 2008, exceed Tier 2 Ecodesign regulations for transformer losses that came into force in July 2021. The products have proven successful by being installed in over 2300 locations around the UK, including leading supermarket chains, famous production brands like McCain, well-known landmarks such as the Natural History Museum, the most prominent and recognised universities, hospitals and others. We launched the latest generation, Wilson e4 Ultimate Low Loss Amorphous® Transformer, in 2024, offering 27% lower combined losses compared to Tier 2 Ecodesign requirements.
The company has seen growth over the years with nearly 700 employees globally, several manufacturing and logistic facilities, and constant growth in turnover, featuring on The Sunday Times 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies in 2024 and 2026 and Financial Times 1000 Europe Fastest-Growing Companies. Our transformers contributed to landmark BESS projects, including the largest four BESS in the UK and the largest in Belgium & France by MWh at the time of energisation.
