We only have one planet and everyone has a part to play in helping us protect it. The UK Government has already committed to halving the amount of harmful greenhouse gases the UK generates by 2030 – and reducing this to net zero by 2050.

This year the UK has a unique opportunity to come together to tackle climate change. In November, the UK is hosting the UN climate change conference (COP26) to challenge world leaders to work together to deliver urgent global climate action.

As part of this, we want small businesses (250 employees or less) from across the UK to join the green business revolution and commit to becoming greener and more sustainable.

There are various ways in which small businesses can benefit from taking climate action and that is why thousands have already committed to cutting their emissions in half by 2030 and to reach 'net zero' by 2050, and subsequently joined the Race to Zero.

Race to Zero is a global campaign led by the UN High Level Climate Champions that is mobilizing businesses, cities, regions, and investors to join the largest ever coalition committed to the same overarching goal: achieving net zero emissions by 2050 at the very latest.

In support of the ‘Race to Zero’, this webinar hosted by the UN Global Compact Network UK in partnership with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, will: provide participants with insights into the potential implications of climate change and the UK's transition to net zero on their business; improve participants understanding of the benefits of taking climate action; raise awareness among participants of the tools and support available to help them reach emissions reduction targets; and more.

Confirmed speakers:

• Steve Kenzie, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network UK.
• Catherine Westoby, Senior Policy Adviser – Public Behaviour Change on Net Zero, BEIS.
• Fleur Record-Smith , Founder at Hayne House Wedding Venue.
