DfT OLEV summary of responses to smart charging consultation

29 May 2020

DfT and OLEV have published a summary of responses and information on Government positions to require smart charging functionality for all non-public EV Chargers

In 2019 Government issued a consultation proposing to require smart charging functionality for all new non-public EV chargers. This set out requirements that those chargers must meet (as well as those public chargepoints that do provide smart charging) such as interoperability and cyber security. This would be implemented by requiring compliance with BSI standards on energy smart appliances, which BEAMA has been involved in developing.
