There are strong Government policy objectives pointing towards greater interoperability of energy smart appliances and connecting infrastructure. BEAMA is working to ensure that this will be consistent and appropriate and that it supports a strong and competitive market. We are also focused on the product manufacture and assurance of safe, interoperable smart appliances that protect data privacy, grid and system security, and network resilience We are intent on ensuring that the electrification of heat and road transport is consistent with a safe, flexible, reliable, efficient and low-carbon energy system.
The Connected Homes Group is the lead BEAMA group for our engagement with the BEIS Energy Smart Appliance workstream and the development of PAS 1878 (smart architecture) and PAS 1879 (demand-side response).
