Next steps for vehicle-to-X technologies

21 Jan 2022

Last year BEAMA supported the Government’s call for evidence on V2X: Call for Evidence regarding Vehicle-to-X technologies.

We are discussing with BEIS about a follow-up event for BEAMA members to liaise directly with the Govt team responsible, but in the meantime, BEIS is holding a Vehicle-to-X market engagement event to discuss how the UK can innovate to accelerate the commercial deployment of V2X at 10-12 on Wednesday 9 February.

The mass electrification of transport as part of the UK’s transition to Net Zero provides a potentially significant source of distributed energy flexibility, which can help cost-effectively integrate renewables as well as providing financial benefits to EV owners. While smart charging enables EVs to charge flexibly, the development of V2X bi-directional charging technology and commercial services can unlock even more flexibility from EVs.

Following the UK’s world leading V2G innovation programme and the recent V2X Call for Evidence, government representatives will set out their thoughts on future innovation needs and invite you to provide feedback to inform options for potential future innovation activity. To make sure you have your say, please register here.
