BEAMA statement on media reports of inaccurate energy bills

Last week there were reports that a small number of customers saw inaccurate information on their in-home display as a result of an issue with a routine software upgrade carried out by their energy supplier. This technical issue did not affect their billing, but resulted in inaccurate data being sent from the electricity meter to the in-home display. This issue is being investigated by the energy supplier and there is no suggestion that any device was at fault. Customers concerned about the accuracy of their installed metering equipment should contact their energy supplier.
