Metering and Monitoring of Domestic Distributed Generation

Welcome to the website for the DTI sponsored project; Reference: K/EL/00312/00/00

Project objectives

  • Measure the electical outputs from 140 micro generators installed in homes across the UK. The generators to include microCHP, wind, solar photovoltaic and hydro technologies.
  • For each site to monitor the electricity production from the generator and the electricity import, export and consumption of the building. The monitoring has been carried out for at least a year for every site.
  • Analysis of the data to identify daily variation and variations due to region, time of year and generation technology and correlation with weather data.
  • Analysis of the data to allow re-evaluation of the export profiles used in the settlements process and to inform OFGEM and others on the impact of the technologies on the renewables targets (don't worry, all this is explained under the Briefing tab).
  • Publish reports, with recommendations, on all the areas of interest, made available to the relevant interested parties and publicly, where appropriate:

Website purpose

This website has been set up to present the findings from the project and to allow those involved in the trials, as well as those with an interest in the subject, to ask questions about the project, the findings and export metering in general. On the other pages you will find graphs showing the data we have measured, briefing material to explain the issues involved and some links to related sites. We hope you find these pages of interest.
