Q Who can join BEAMA?
AAny company which is either UK registered or has a UK base and is a manufacturer or supplier in the Electrotechnical and allied industries. Companies apply for membership to one of the 14 autonomous associations which are members of BEAMA.

Company size varies from major multinationals to smaller family owned enterprises

QWhat is BEAMA Membership Criteria?
AYou will find information on BEAMA Associations under "Membership" above. This should help you to find the Association whose scope fits your business best. If you are unclear as to the best means of joining, contact the BEAMA offices and we will be pleased to provide more information. If you are uncertain as to whether you qualify for membership, or in what ways BEAMA can help your business, then again we will be happy to provide guidance.

Each Association Management Board considers membership applications separately. They can either accept or reject applications, or ask for further information on the trading record or product line of the applicant.

In the event of a membership resignation, a twelve month notice period is normally required. The BEAMA Constitution, or those of member Associations, can be provided to membership applicants on request. The levels of subscription vary as they are set by each individual association.

QIs BEAMA government funded?
ANo - we are independent of government and owned by our memebers - as a non profit making trade assocation. We work closely with the Department of Trade and Industry and co-sponsor projects which are of interest to our members and industry.

QWhat influence does BEAMA have?
A

We are successful, for example, in lobbying with the EU for changes in technical/standard legislation. We are consulted by government departments and agencies on a range of issues.
