The BEAMA Legal Department provides a wide range of services which can be categorised as:

Training

One of the most important functions of BEAMA Legal is to provide training to both members and non-members on legal issues. This training is carried out in two ways; BEAMA periodically hosts seminars on a range of legal issues with guest speakers from the industry and the law, as well as providing in-house training on contract law and conditions at companies' own premises with a course programme tailored to the companies' specific interests.

Member Companies

Member companies can obtain advice on virtually any aspect of commercial law, with advice on contractual issues such as the sale of goods, maintenance and repair, agency and distribution or confidentiality agreements being the most sought after.

BEAMA Legal can also provide guidance in a number of other areas including competition, product liability, public and utility procurement, intellectual property, counterfeiting and origin marking.

European Legislation

BEAMA Legal also montiors the progress of any directives and legislation from the European Commission relating to companies' commercial and technical obligations, and lobbies on members behalf through BEAMA's European body; ORGALIME.

General Information

Members are kept informed of any court decisions, new legislation and other important legal issues through the BEAMA e-news and other Association papers.

BEAMA has a range of standard contract terms available to members, as well as having an input into the MF/1 suite of model forms through its membership of the IET/IMechE Committee of Model Contract Conditions.

BEAMA Business Support Helpline

BEAMA's subscription to the Business Support Helpline entitles members to free telephone advice in the areas of tax, VAT, PAYE, payroll, employment and personnel, health and safety or commercial legal matters.
