Collectively, this association aims to turn the concept of Smart Housing into reality, and explain the benefits of investing in smart products.
There are many 'interpretations' of what is a Smart home.
At BEAMA we believe that a Smart home is not simply a dwelling that has 'gadgets' providing novelty over practicality and purpose.
A true Smart Home is one that seeks to take full advantage of Smart technology within a wider, yet focused, specification allowing service providers and occupiers to benefit in many ways - from convenience and better living standards to energy saving and device communication.
What lifts a Smart House or dwelling beyond one merely fitted with appliances/systems with controls, is the ability to usefully link them together. To interactively control them with a degree of pre-programming.
This can be simple or complex, depending on application and flexibility required. For this to happen two elements need consideration: control medium and protocols used in the medium.
We have identified four distinct smart house types:
Allows the householder to reduce their impact on the environment by providing energy usage information, control strategies and automated operation of products.
