The dual challenges of climate change and security of energy supply are well understood but do we truly understand that many of the solutions to both are connected?
Backed by a solid EU position, the UK has set ambitious targets for reductions in carbon emissions. Within the policy arena there is cross party consensus that smarter electricity networks supported by smart metering, intelligent building services and appliances and electrical personal transport must be considered as an integrated package that delivers crucial supply and demand side energy and carbon efficiencies.
But what are smart electricity networks? What are the political drivers and regulatory barriers to realising their potential? Who should be involved in the ‘smart shift’? Which technology solutions exist and how will manufacturing product development programmes be affected? Just how will this affect the way we supply and consume electricity? Will the smart revolution be phased or immediate in its impact? And can we learn more from other technology sectors that have experienced a revolution driven by the digital age?
BEAMA is uniquely positioned to host this seminar, representing manufacturers affected by the smart revolution ‘fro m power station to appliance’. This seminar will examine the opportunities for technology manufacturers, the links between them, and the potential to deliver so much of what policy makers are striving for.
