Completed Projects
Carbon Trust SME Trial of Smart Metering
BEAMA led a trial of smart metering for SME’s. The project had a £110,000 budget and installed 85 meters in SME sites. BEAMA worked with EdF Energy, EdF Customer Field Services and PRI Meters. BEAMA was responsible for managing the project, obtaining feedback from the SME’s, energy savings data analysis and producing the final report.
Half Hourly Metering of Embedded Generation
BEAMA contributed to a project that has examined the possibilities for innovative HH metering solutions for embedded generation. The project had a £70,000 budget.
Current Projects
DTI Metering of Embedded Generation
A DTI funded project to collect electricity profile data from up to 200 embedded generators in residential and small commercial sites.
The project has eight participants, including Electricity Suppliers and meter and embedded generator manufacturers. The total project budget is approx £650,000 and the project is due to conclude mid 2007.
As well as overall management of the project, BEAMA is responsible for securing sites, data acquisition, data analysis and final reporting.
GenDis
A 3 year collaborative project funded by the European Commission looking at the effect of embedded generation on the Distribution system and metering.
BEAMA is a lead partner, responsible for metering issues and the dissemination of the project results across the European SME sector.
EC Funded Project MicroCHeaP
BEAMA is collaborating in an EC funded network project examining the options for combining microCHP with biomass.
European Smart Metering Alliance
BEAMA is currently in contract negotiation with the Intelligent Energy Executive Agency over the award of a €650k grant to develop a European Alliance aimed at defining and spreading best practice in smart metering across Europe in support of the End-Use Efficiency and Energy Services Directive.
This 3 year project, which involves 14 participants drawn from 12 countries across Europe, will bring together all stakeholders in smart metering and foster the optimum implementation of the Directive and report on progress and barriers to the European Commission.
